Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the UnboundedFigures platform, including its website at unboundedfigures.com and all associated features (collectively, the “Platform”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on your behalf.
You must not be prohibited from using the Platform under applicable law, and you must not have a previously terminated account unless we have expressly permitted reinstatement.
Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when registering and to keep your account information up to date.
You may not share your account with others, impersonate any person, or create accounts to circumvent any prior suspension or ban. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
User Content
Ownership
You retain ownership of the original expression in any content you submit to the Platform — including sketches, bridge responses, project papers, research log entries, and comments (“User Content”). These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights from you to UnboundedFigures.
License Grant
By submitting User Content, you grant UnboundedFigures a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable license to host, display, distribute, and promote your content in connection with operating and improving the Platform. This license continues for as long as your content remains on the Platform, and terminates when you delete your content or close your account, except where content has been incorporated into collaborative works by other users.
Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, quality, and legality of your User Content. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant the license above, and that your content does not violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party.
Intellectual Property and AI Tools
UnboundedFigures is built on the belief that mathematical ideas belong to everyone. Our AI policy reflects that value: we welcome computational tools as aids to human mathematical thinking, while protecting the integrity of original human contribution.
AI as a Tool — Permitted
Using AI tools to assist with formatting, LaTeX typesetting, computation, literature searches, grammar editing, or translation is permitted without disclosure. AI used in this capacity is analogous to using a calculator, computer algebra system, or spell-checker.
AI as a Contributor — Disclosure Required
If an AI system substantially generated or significantly shaped a mathematical insight, conjecture, argument, or proof strategy in your submission, you must disclose this. Disclosure options include:
- Checking the “AI-Assisted” tag in the Project Lab
- Including a note in your submission stating the nature of AI involvement
- Adding a disclosure in your post body
Prohibited: Undisclosed AI Authorship
Presenting content where AI is the primary author of mathematical ideas as your own original human thinking is prohibited. This includes submitting AI-generated proofs, conjectures, or arguments without disclosure, regardless of whether you prompted the AI to generate them.
Mathematical Ideas vs. Protected Expression
Mathematical ideas, methods, theorems, and proofs — as abstract concepts — are not copyrightable. What you own is the original expression of those ideas. When contributors build bridges or formalizations from your sketches, they are engaging with the mathematical idea, not reproducing your protected expression.
Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, or demean other users
- Post content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or fraudulent
- Submit or promote plagiarized content — presenting another person's mathematical work as your own
- Present AI-generated mathematical content as entirely your own original human thinking
- Spam, flood, or engage in coordinated manipulation of platform features
- Attempt to access accounts, systems, or data without authorization
- Scrape, crawl, or extract content from the Platform in bulk without our written permission
- Use the Platform to distribute malware or engage in phishing
- Attempt to interfere with the operation or security of the Platform
Platform Rights
UnboundedFigures reserves the right to remove any User Content, suspend or terminate any account, and modify or discontinue any feature of the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to violations of these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
We are not obligated to monitor all User Content, but we may do so at our discretion. Removal of content is not an admission of liability, and we are not liable for any failure to remove content you believe violates these Terms.
Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
UnboundedFigures does not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any User Content. We are not liable for the mathematical accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content posted by users.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UnboundedFigures and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you have paid to us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars ($100).
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UnboundedFigures and its operators from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Platform, or your violation of these Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction, as applicable.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify users via email or an in-platform notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
